A serene landscape in your palm. This handcrafted chawan is hand-painted with Aoyama (green mountain) brushwork, inspired by a classical Japanese tradition of landscape calligraphy. Each bowl is thrown, painted, and fired by hand at the historic Nishigama Kiln in Mino.

An artisan at the Nishigama Kiln
The calligraphy on this chawan follows the "Sansui-ga" (landscape painting) tradition — a technique once used to portray spiritual depth in nature scenes. These bowls are a collaboration of painter and potter — silent, steady, and alive.
When these are gone, they’re gone. We only receive a handful of pieces per firing. This bowl is ready for both usucha and koicha rituals, and each one is slightly different — just like every sunrise over green mountains.
Free U.S. shipping. Easy returns within 14 days.
